"Now they will be able to take care of themselves by seeing a doctor regularly, and hopefully find any changes at an early stage."
IPA, Margo Stevenson, goes to the Jonesboro Workforce office every Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. She told us she has assisted approximately 50 people at the Access Arkansas website. There have been many stories and tears of joy as people who thought they would never have health insurance are shown how to achieve this “miracle.” She has been surprised how many cancer patients she has assisted who received acute care when they were diagnosed with cancer, but did not have access to follow-up care with a primary physician. Now they will be able to take care of themselves by seeing a doctor regularly, and hopefully find any changes at an early stage. The emotional relief is beyond measure!

Enrollment in the Marketplace. IPA, Margo Stevenson, was successful in assisting a couple with health insurance. The husband was in his lower 60’s and the wife in her upper 50’s. They had both been denied coverage in the past. Their income level was approximately $39,000 per year. They chose the Silver Plan – 2000. With subsidies, their premium was approximately $35 per month. The husband stated that he really needs surgery on his leg, and was fearful that he would never be able to get help. When looking at plans, they were most concerned with the monthly cost. They were very excited they could get health insurance for this low cost.

"...people are very excited that they can now get a job at minimum wage, and not lose the little help they were receiving."

IPA, Margo Stevenson, holds regular hours at the Helping Neighbors Food Pantry in Jonesboro. There she has met and assisted people with the Access Arkansas website. A “theme” that she hears often is that the people are very excited that they can now get a job at minimum wage, and not lose the little help they were receiving. They can now work for a lower wage and still get health insurance.
